Wednesday’s Expeditions
Episode 1
August 2nd2006
Cullintra House
T'was a grand evening we had last night at Patricia's, much less lively than last Wednesday with all the row and ruction going on. I'm not sure I was able to explain exactly how that happened or not, but t'was an innocent incident entirely. Who would have thought that little man would fly off his feet when I gave him a happy shove after a risqué joke. Off he flew and you know the rest. Although I love the attention of the older gentlemen, I must keep all options open because some of them have money.
~~Bridget
Once again, an interesting blend of people at Patricia's. But I wish Vickie wouldn't have started making passes at that nice woman's husband at dinner. And right in front of the nice woman. Their romantic escape wasn't all it was cracked up to be. They (Vickie and the nice man) just couldn't keep their hands off each other. Of course, the kicker was when the wife became hysterical; throwing every course of food that Patricia brought out. Poor Vickie. When the woman finished Vickie off with the chocolate mousse I thought I'd seen it all. But no - I had seen it all when the husband started licking the mousse off of Vickie's face. Vickie - what was his name? And where is he from and does he have friends? I hope you can get the plum sauce out of your hair before this evening. What time are we leaving? I could use a good walk. Oh did I mention that the cat's tail caught fire at dinner last at Patricia's? Yes, well, it did. Quite a sight.
~~Maggie
I am amazed at how calmly Vickie took that barrage of food coming her way. I thought for sure she would lose her cool after the plate of veggies hit her in the back of the head! She just has such a way with those old men!! It's the twinkle in her eyes and the way her feet start tapping that sets those old men’s' minds to work. Then when Shirley "accidentally" tipped over that lady's chair....what a hoot! Soup all down the front of her. That's what set the cat off I think. Poor critter didn't know which way to turn for safety so ended up with a tail too close to the fire.....truth be told....that's what started that whole episode...a "tail" too close to the "fire."
I'm just glad I was able to get Vickie out to the conservatory and sit us both down with a bottle of wine. Whew! Now...correct me if I am wrong...but didn't Linda happen to slip out through the kitchen with that wonderfully mysterious man, whist all this was going on? Has anyone seen her yet today? I want to know the details there!!
Do you suppose Patricia will EVER let us come back there again? I know that carpet in the diningroom is ruined.
~~Finola
Yes, and leave it to Shirley to cover your back when the times get tough. But what a waste of a good hollandaise sauce.
~~Maggie
I was so excited to be escorted to that table by Patricia, she so loves to spread us about. Imagine this small town girl eating dinner with his lordship and ladyship from the north. We were having such a lovely chat, and I was in such awe. It did seem odd that his wife was so cool and didn't talk all that much, he and I laughed so much my stomach is still sore. All of a sudden it seemed to change when he put his hand on my thigh and was stroking me in such a splendid way I couldn't move. Then I could see Char coming out from under the table with a wink and her napkin. It all went downhill from there. Now, I'm not accusing our Charlotte of anything, but, well I need not say more. I certainly tried my best to stay in control, but when his wife threw that plate at my head just as Patricia came through the door with the mousse and that crazed woman grabbed it from her and threw that as well, I knew it was time to skidattle. Then his lordship started licking my...well I'm sure you saw where that was, he just didn't want that delicious mousse to go to waste that's all. I'm afraid it will be our last dinner at Patricia's, unless we can come up with some kind of explanation.
~~Bridget
Thanks for clearing up exactly how that fracas happened at Patricia Cantlon's! And here I was thinking some of the hullabaloo might have been our fault! Simple misunderstanding! I'm sure she will welcome us back again! Sure, now, wasn't it his lordship that caused it all.
~~Claire
Well, wouldn't you know it. Our Charlotte - Sweet sweet Charlotte. I really think Patricia enjoys those kinds of "events" at her dinners. Just don't try to put the wrong candles in the wrong holders. Everything else is a "go"!. I will check with Patricia and see if she will have us back again this week. Is everyone agreeable to that?
~~Maggie
Linda seems to think that going back to Patricia's this week is waaaaay to soon. I guess we need to give her a rest. OK, so we need another idea. What say you sisters? I have been giving it some thought and have come up empty. But I have really come to love our Wed. nights as well as Thurs.

What a lovely job you did recreating these special memories. I wouldn't edit a thing. When do you think we will start our trips to Ireland again? I had forgotten how much fun we had. I guess we will just have to start planning them again!!!
